Used in the mining industry for head protection and featuring a low-crown clearance for work in low-ceiling areas and a lamp bracket and cord holder to support a miner's lamp.

Made of lightweight, tough polycarbonate plastic, the shell resists top impacts. Molded cross ridges on the crown provide increased strength and rigidity. The cap's peak helps protect the wearer's eyes and face from small falling objects. The Comfo-Cap is not designed to protect against lateral blows from the front, side or rear. Product Information

Uses a microprocessor-controlled charging system, constant current and constant potential charging. No adjustment required. LED colored lights indicate state of battery charge, with charge time depending on the state of battery discharge. For instance, an Ultralight cap lamp without remote adapter that has been used for ten hours will charge completely in less than ten hours. When the battery is fully charged, it automatically goes into "sleep mode." The PowerBuilder charges all MSA batteries (old or new) and also competitive lead acid batteries. All chargers can be used as a tabletop or wall mount. The DC version of the single-unit charger can be plugged into an automotive-type cigarette lighter. The five- and ten-unit chargers can be internally set for 110- or 220-volt operation. Can be used tabletop, wall-mounted, or stacked on a leg assembly. The leg assembly kit enables up to six of the ten-unit chargers to be stacked. This can total up to 60 stations, with 30 stations on each side of the rack (back-to-back). The five-unit charger can be converted into a ten-unit charger. The PowerBuilder charger for cap lamp batteries allows for the extended use of the 16-ampere-hour Luminator® Plus battery and still has enough charging capability to bring the battery back to charge for the next work shift.

Pre-weighed filter cassettes consist of a sealed outer plastic capsule and an inner pre-weighed filter capsule. Each cassette is supplied with a mine data card with the weight of the filter capsule recorded and a mailing carton addressed to Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

Product Information

For mine atmosphere sampling, the MSA pre-weighted filter cassettes must be used with a Cyclone assembly to collect the respirable dust fraction. The 10mm diameter assembly is used to separate respirable dust particles from non-respirable dust particles.

A lightweight but sturdy miner's belt that offers comfort, lumbar support, versatility and durability. Enables the miner to carry the cap lamp battery pack, filter self-rescuer, SCSR, tools, etc. on the job. A one-inch reflective strip sewn over a two-inch nylon strap makes the support system highly visible. Multipurpose pouch with Velcro closure available as special material.

Product Information

A self-contained mine communication system approved by Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), consisting of a speaker, a telephone handset, a battery power supply and a solid-state amplifier and associated circuitry. Components are housed in a fiberglass, rubber-gasketed enclosure that resists water and impact damage. The power supply is a 12-volt dry cell battery. Power is drawn only while the unit is in operation.

Ultralight™ Cap Lamp System

Principles of Operation

The two-inch diameter headpiece is made of high-impact polycarbonate and consists of only five major parts: a one-piece polycarbonate bezel/lens; a computer-designed, prefocused bulb/reflector assembly, featuring a high output, tungsten-halogen bulb which is accurately positioned in the focal point of the reflector to assure the best possible spot; a plug-in tungsten-halogen bulb emergency escape light; the main housing with a printed circuit board for bulb and battery cable connections; and a three-position switch.

Provides emergency respiratory protection against carbon monoxide gas resulting from underground fires or explosions. A one-time-use device for escape purposes only, it provides respiratory protection against carbon monoxide in otherwise respirable air. Should not be used in atmospheres containing less than 19.5 percent oxygen or in atmospheres containing other toxic gases and vapors. Protected by a rugged stainless steel case, it weighs only 2.2 pounds.
