Explosimeter®
Combustible Gas Indicator

Principles of Operation
A single
control knob turns the instrument on and sets the detection
filament voltage. Gas concentrations up to 100 percent of
LEL are measured directly on the meter. Concentrations in
the explosive range are indicated by full-scale deflection
of the meter pointer.
Approvals and
Standards
Model 2A is
listed by Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) for use in
hazardous locations as defined by the National Electrical
Code. UL approval is for Class I, Group D, Divisions 1 and
2; and Class I, Groups A, B and C, Division 2 (Division 1
excluded), hazardous atmospheres.

Product
Information
Detects and
measures concentrations of combustible gases or vapors in
the air. This instrument can be used in the immediate
environment or, with sampling lines and probes, it can draw
samples from remote areas and is housed in a cast aluminum
case. |
FiveStar® Alarm

Principles of Operation
The FiveStar
Alarm can automatically compensate for changes in
atmospheric pressure, and has a battery gas gauge which
indicates, in tenths of hours, how much longer the
instrument can run on the remaining battery charge.
For added
protection, MSA's Lockalarm™ Circuit ensures that the unit
will remain in alarm mode whenever combustible gas levels
reach 100 percent of the LEL (Lower Explosive Limit).
Small and
lightweight, the FiveStar Alarm is convenient to carry in
hand or clip to a belt. It can also be left unattended for
continuous monitoring.
Approvals and
Standards
The FiveStar
Alarm has been approved for use in Class 1 Division 1,
Groups A, B, C and D; Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, G;
and Class III hazardous locations.

Gascope® Combustible
Gas Indicator

Principles of Operation
Three Gascope
Combustible Gas Indicator models are available. The Model 60
is designed for use by gas utility companies in routine
testing for methane-in-air concentrations in manholes,
sewers, curb boxes and other street openings. The Model 62S,
also suitable for use by gas utility companies, is designed
for reading 0-100% LEL methane-in-air and 0-100% by volume
methane-in air. The Model 62 is for general industrial use
and is designed for reading 0-100% LEL pentane-in-air.

Passport® Personal
Alarm

Principles of Operation
The Passport
Alarm has only three buttons. Its back-lit liquid crystal
display (LCD) continuously provides readings from all
sensors. When a preset alarm condition is detected by any
sensor, an internal horn activates and two bright red
warning lights flash. The combustible sensor uses MSA's
LockalarmT Circuit. If the combustible gas level reaches
100% of the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), the alarm locks and
cannot be reset until the user moves to fresh air, turns the
unit off and back on again.
